Sunil Narine says he won’t be going back to the World Cup.

During the forthcoming World Cup in the Caribbean and the USA, Sunil Narine has ruled out making a comeback on the international scene.

After recording his first century this IPL season, the opener for the Kolkata Knight Riders, who last competed for the West Indies. He declared his retirement in November 2023, hinting at a potential comeback to the national team. In a casual conversation, he said to the broadcaster. “It is what it is but we will have to see what the future holds,” when they inquired about his potential to play for the West Indies once more.

Rovman Powell, the captain of the West Indies, later acknowledged that he had been “whispering in Narine’s ears” to come out of retirement for about a year.

However, Narine has finally addressed rumors about his worldwide comeback. He acknowledged that the “door is now closed” in a statement released through KKR.

In the statement, Narine stated, “I’m genuinely flattered and humbled that my recent performances have moved many people. To publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup.”

“Although I never want to let anyone down, I’ve come to terms with that choice. I’ll be rooting for the boys who play for the West Indies in June. I wish you all the best. Guys who have put in a lot of work over the last few months. They deserve to prove to our amazing supporters that they are capable of winning another title,” he continued.
