Shanto advises Test match experts to prepare thoroughly

Nazmul Hossain ShantoShanto advises Test match experts to prepare thoroughly.

Before their international assignments, Bangladesh’s captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, has asked for his team’s red-ball specialists to have more match practice. The left-hand batter believed that it would greatly benefit both the team and individuals who just focused on the longest format if they could get experience by playing for the “A” teams.

Given that the majority of Bangladesh’s cricket players had little to no practice prior to the series. They place theĀ  blame on their preparation levels after Sri Lanka easily defeated Bangladesh in the two-match Test series played at home.

“Following their series loss to Sri Lanka at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday (April 3), Najmul informed reporters that if they could send their Test experts in the Bangladesh A squad to play in our next Test location, we would be more prepared.

“They will be aware of such conditions and wickets. Those who choose to play white-ball cricket must work hard in the nets and adjust mentally. It will help, even if the A team series is played at home,” he said. “Those who play the three forms of cricket have to adapt to the way modern cricket is run. Individuals who participate in fewer formats may be more prepared. Moving ahead, we need to figure out how to adapt to the three forms.

“We don’t have many obstacles in the domestic first-class, but it would be beneficial to get more wickets. In my opinion, first-class cricket matches are not of high quality. I believe that participating in more games aids in each player’s overall development.”

In terms of Test cricket, Najmul acknowledged that their batting errors had recently cost them dearly. In their previous six innings, Bangladesh has only managed to score more over 200 runs once, which came when they scored 318 in the second innings of the second Test when behind 511 runs at ZACS.

“We batted poorly the entire series. There’s no way to justify anything. We may argue endlessly, but as a team, we struggled to bat well over the four innings. Our batting is not as bad as we were in these two Test matches. We have greater ability. Technically and psychologically, we can still do better,” he remarked.

“This squad is rather new. We do not have good experience. Every player wants to get better. Give it more time, and the group will come to wiser conclusions,” he declared. “We have trouble batting every time. However, I can guarantee that each batter is putting it their all. They desire to be a part of the team. They put a lot of practice into it. Although we did not achieve the intended results, I am confident that we will eventually achieve them. We will see results because we are putting in a lot of effort, practicing, and wanting to get better.

Najmul was likewise unclear about the cause of Bangladesh’s failed catches in the two Test matches. Especially because the same fielders were doing admirably in

“Everybody practices taking their receptions. They put a lot of effort on fielding. We don’t have an explanation for why we missed the captures. Despite everyone’s excellent preparation as a fielding unit, we were unable to take the catches “explained Najmul.

Even three or four years ago, our fast bowlers were not as good. On these kinds of wickets, they are now taking wickets (as in Chattogram). Both Tests saw Khaled bowl really well. On his debut, Hasan Mahmud bowled brilliantly. In the first Test, Shoriful performed well. When Taskin played Tests, he always made a contribution. In every situation, every bowler is eager to help the team,” he remarked.

Najmul continued by saying that they had benefited much from Shakib Al Hasan’s comeback to Test cricket following a one-year absence.

“Outside, there will be a lot of conversation. We have no control over it. The players support one another. We acknowledge our lack of performance. We understand how to fix this. “Those who get the chance will do it well; we have some time to get ready for the next Test series,” he remarked.

“I knew that Shakib bhai will be playing the second Test at Chattogram. He always gives us advance notice of his plans. He contributed to this game. Shakib claimed three wickets. He was a prolific over-bowler. Shakib did effectively at bat in the second innings as well. I expected more from him, but he gave me more. Having an experienced player is usually beneficial. He provided a great deal of comments to the players, which was also very beneficial “Najmul said
