In white-ball cricket, Pakistan will once more be led by Babar Azam.

In white-ball cricket PCB reappointed Babar Azam, the Pakistan Cricket Board said on Sunday (March 31). Shaheen Afridi captained the national team in just one series, hence his tenure as the T20 captain has ended prematurely.

Babar resigned from his position as Pakistan‘s all-around captain last year in the wake of his team’s disappointing World Cup performance in India. PCB chose Shan Masood to take over as Test captain after the PCB undertook many changes at the same time.

Masood led when Pakistan lost in Australia, but Afridi was chosen the new T20I captain, with Mohammad Rizwan as his deputy. Pakistan suffered a 4-1 loss in Afridi’s maiden series as captain, while the fast bowler’s PSL team, Lahore Qalandars, also had a dismal season, winning only one game out of 10 to finish last.

Wahab Riaz, Asad Shafiq, Abdul Razzaq, and Mohammad Yousuf make up the current selection panel. According to the PCB, the selectors’ unanimous endorsement led to Babar’s reappointment. Now, Babar will captain the team in a five-game T20I series against New Zealand at home. Four more T20I matches against England will follow before the T20
