I’m still thinking the same way I did before, says Gill

INDIAN CRICKET TEAM

Following Indian cricket team shocking loss in the first round of their current five-match series against England in Hyderabad, the hosts’ batting unit came under fire.

Shubman Gill was the most prominent batter to take the heat. India’s third batsman had not scored fifty or more runs in eleven innings, but those matches had all taken place away from home. In reality, he had scored a century against Australia in Ahmedabad during his previous at-home innings before the Hyderabad Test. However, Gill knew that it was either make-or-break when he headed to Vizag. He had no choice but to reply, and he did. He returned to form with an important century in the second innings while under duress, and he then produced another key century at Rajkot in the second innings of Indian cricket team.

In response to the criticism he received following the first Test, Gill showed a very mature level of maturity when asked about his form’s roller coaster ride.

GILL’S MEDIA TALK

At the press conference, Gill stated, “There is always disappointment, but it was more within myself and regarding my own expectations.” The sounds outside didn’t really get to me. In times like this, it’s critical to seize the next chance that presents itself. You have to put the past behind you and concentrate only on the next ball. The ability to move on from a prior inning, whether it was good or terrible, is what separates a strong player from an ordinary player. Great players are the ones who can accomplish this with ease.

“You constantly have expectations of yourself. It goes without saying that you want to support the team and contribute as much as you can. My mentality is still the same as it was before. It all comes down to responding to the circumstances at hand and letting the past go.”
