SRH’s 2024 IPL captain will be Pat Cummins

For the 2017 Indian Premier League season. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s captain will be Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins. following a depressing finish of last in the previous season.

After Cummins was purchased at auction for an incredible INR 20.50 Cr. He was the clear favorite to become captain. Cummins and Daniel Vettori, the new head coach of SRH, are part of the Australian national team. James Franklin, a former national teammate, has been selected by Vettori to join the coaching staff. Vettori was also entrusted with replacing Dale Steyn, who was leaving his position as bowling coach.

Although Markram had guided Sunrisers, to consecutive SA20 titles, the team’s dismal 2023 season and Cummins’ quick ascent to prominence as a leader have necessitated the leadership move. Australia defeated India in the final of the ODI World Cup and went on to win the World Test Championship under Cummins’ leadership.

The Australian will be captain for the first time in this IPL season. He was a player with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the past. Cummins did not have much luck with the ball. But he did smash the fastest fifty ever recorded in the IPL history with 14 balls. He was the first player in history to be bought by SRH after receiving an offer of more than INR 20 Cr at the auction. The moment KKR signed Mitchell Starc for INR 24.75 Cr, they broke that record bid.
